Ozzy Osbourne Sets New Memoir About Black Sabbath’s Final Concert, His ‘Descent Into Hell’ With ‘Near-Total Paralysis’ and More

Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness and legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, is returning to the literary world with a new tell-all memoir that promises to be his most raw and unfiltered yet. Tentatively titled “The End of the Beginning: My Last Sabbath, My Last Stand,” the memoir chronicles not only the final show of the band that launched heavy metal into the stratosphere, but also his personal descent into what he calls “a living hell”—a period marked by physical collapse, mental torment, and ultimately, a fight for survival.

The book is expected to hit shelves in early 2026 and has already been described by insiders as Osbourne’s “most intimate, painful, and triumphant account yet.” In true Ozzy fashion, it won’t hold anything back.

The Final Bow: Black Sabbath’s Last Concert

The memoir centers around the climactic final concert of Black Sabbath on February 4, 2017, at Birmingham’s Genting Arena—the band’s hometown and the birthplace of heavy metal. Ozzy recounts the moment with a bittersweet tone, recalling the thunderous roar of the crowd, the echoes of “Paranoid” bouncing through the arena, and the bittersweet realization that a historic chapter was closing.

“I didn’t think I’d get emotional,” Osbourne writes. “But when the last note rang out and I looked out into that crowd—my people, my home—I broke. I knew it was goodbye. Not just to Black Sabbath, but to a part of myself I could never get back.”

In the memoir, Ozzy also reflects on his turbulent relationship with bandmates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, admitting that while their bond was unbreakable on stage, the years of conflict and reconciliation made the final curtain call all the more meaningful.

A Descent Into Hell: The Fight Against Near-Total Paralysis

Shortly after that iconic final concert, Osbourne’s life took a dark and frightening turn. What began as routine health issues spiraled into a nightmare of surgeries, hospital visits, and a near-total physical collapse. Diagnosed with a form of Parkinson’s disease and left debilitated by a fall at home in 2019, Ozzy details what he calls his “descent into hell.”

“I wasn’t just in pain,” he writes. “I was a prisoner in my own body. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t think straight. I’d stare at the ceiling for hours, thinking, ‘Is this it? Is this how I go out?’”

His memoir dives deep into the psychological toll of losing physical autonomy, especially for someone known for his explosive stage presence. Osbourne opens up about bouts of depression, thoughts of suicide, and the immense pressure his condition placed on his family—particularly his wife Sharon, who has stood by him through decades of chaos.

Sharon, The Anchor in the Storm

Sharon Osbourne, who has managed both his career and his personal recovery, features heavily in the book. Ozzy credits her with being the “rock” that held everything together when his body and spirit were falling apart.

“She saw me at my lowest,” Ozzy confesses. “There were days I was so doped up on meds, I didn’t know my own name. But she never gave up. Not once. If it weren’t for her, I’d be dead.”

The memoir includes excerpts from Sharon’s private journals during the time, offering readers a dual perspective on the suffering, resilience, and hope that defined those harrowing years.

A Glimpse Into the Abyss and the Road Back

Osbourne doesn’t sugarcoat the experience. The book is filled with vivid depictions of pain, surgery, hallucinations, and moments when even he questioned whether the fight was worth it. But amid the darkness, there are moments of levity, unexpected humor, and above all—hope.

With experimental treatments and grueling physical therapy, Ozzy has slowly reclaimed some control over his body. He’s returned to the studio, performed again (albeit briefly), and continues to connect with fans through social media and his SiriusXM show Ozzy Speaks.

“This isn’t a comeback story,” Ozzy writes in the closing chapter. “This is a survival story. I’m still here. I may not be what I was, but I’m still f***ing Ozzy.”

A Love Letter to Fans, and a Message of Endurance

Perhaps the most powerful element of the memoir is its unwavering message of perseverance. Ozzy writes not just to document his suffering, but to inspire anyone struggling through their own personal hell.

“I’ve been called a madman, a demon, a legend—but underneath it all, I’m just a man who refused to quit. If you’re reading this and you’re hurting, don’t let go. There’s always one more song left to sing.”

Fan Reactions and Anticipation

As news of the memoir broke, fans across social media expressed overwhelming support and anticipation. Black Sabbath loyalists, younger metalheads, and readers who found solace in Ozzy’s previous books (I Am Ozzy and Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy) have all voiced excitement to dive deeper into the saga of one of rock’s most resilient icons.

Publishers are expecting record-breaking pre-orders, and a limited-edition deluxe version of the book—featuring handwritten lyrics from the final Sabbath setlist, rare photos, and a foreword by Iommi—is also in the works.

The Legacy Continues

At 76, Ozzy Osbourne continues to defy odds. Whether he’s fighting through paralysis, recounting tales of debauchery and redemption, or simply enjoying time with his grandchildren, his legacy is alive and electrified.

This new memoir is more than a music biography—it’s a battle cry for the human spirit. And like every note he ever screamed on stage, Ozzy’s latest story is raw, real, and unforgettable.
