Bon Jovi Announces Special Concert to Celebrate Jon Bon Jovi Statue and Netflix Documentary
Sayreville, NJ — June 4, 2025
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Bon Jovi have announced a special one-night-only concert in Sayreville, New Jersey — the hometown of frontman Jon Bon Jovi — to mark two major milestones: the unveiling of a statue honoring the legendary rocker and the release of an upcoming Netflix documentary chronicling the band’s four-decade career.
The concert, scheduled for July 15 at the newly renovated Sayreville Waterfront Amphitheater, promises to be both a homecoming and a historical moment for fans. Titled “Homebound: A Bon Jovi Celebration,” the event will feature the full band, special guest performers, and a live-streamed presentation of the statue unveiling just prior to the show.
“It’s incredibly humbling,” said Jon Bon Jovi in a statement released Tuesday morning. “To be honored in the town where it all started, and to share that with my band, family, and fans — it’s more than I could’ve imagined.”
A Statue for a Hometown Hero
The bronze statue, funded by a combination of state arts grants and private donations, stands nearly 10 feet tall and captures Jon Bon Jovi mid-performance, guitar in hand, hair windswept. It will be placed in Sayreville’s newly redeveloped Town Square Park, a centerpiece of the city’s cultural revitalization efforts.
Sayreville Mayor Victoria Diaz called the statue “a tribute to not only a rock icon, but a humanitarian, entrepreneur, and proud son of New Jersey.”
“Jon Bon Jovi has always worn Sayreville on his sleeve, from the lyrics in his songs to the charitable work he’s done for communities across the state,” Diaz said. “This statue will inspire future generations to dream big.”
Netflix Documentary Coming This Fall
Adding to the celebration, Netflix has confirmed that a feature-length documentary titled “Bon Jovi: Blood on the Notes” will premiere globally in October 2025. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), the documentary spans over 40 years of music, touring, personal struggles, and reinvention.
Sources close to the production say the film includes never-before-seen backstage footage, interviews with current and former band members, archival clips from early Sayreville gigs, and candid reflections from Jon himself on fame, family, and perseverance.
In a teaser released by Netflix, Jon Bon Jovi is heard saying, “We weren’t just trying to be rock stars — we were trying to tell the truth in a loud way.”
The documentary also explores Jon’s recovery from recent vocal cord surgery and the uncertainty surrounding his live performances — a topic that fans and critics have been watching closely.
A Milestone for the Band and Fans
For many fans, this event marks a powerful fusion of nostalgia and celebration. Bon Jovi has remained one of the most enduring rock bands in music history, with chart-topping hits like Livin’ on a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive, and It’s My Life remaining staples of arena playlists worldwide.
The band has sold over 130 million records globally, and their longevity is a testament to their ability to adapt across generations while maintaining their signature blend of heartland rock and pop appeal.
This concert is expected to feature a career-spanning setlist, including rare deep cuts and some reworked acoustic arrangements. There are also rumors of appearances from notable artists who were influenced by Bon Jovi, including Pink, Adam Levine, and Taylor Swift, though none have been officially confirmed.
Tickets will go on sale June 10 through Ticketmaster, with a special presale for fan club members starting June 7. Netflix subscribers will also have access to an exclusive lottery for VIP backstage experiences and limited-edition merchandise tied to the documentary.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
The announcement comes at a poignant moment in the band’s journey. With questions about Jon’s voice and ongoing speculation about Richie Sambora’s possible return — which remains unconfirmed — the band is showing no signs of slowing down.
Jon, now 63, has continued to inspire with his philanthropic efforts, including the JBJ Soul Foundation and his network of community restaurants, JBJ Soul Kitchen.
“It’s not just about rock and roll,” Jon told Rolling Stone earlier this year. “It’s about connection, about building something that lasts. This band is my family, and these songs — they belong to the fans as much as they belong to us.”
A Celebration of Legacy
“Homebound: A Bon Jovi Celebration” is more than just a concert; it’s a moment for Sayreville and the music world to reflect on an extraordinary legacy.
As fans prepare to descend on New Jersey from around the world, the town that raised one of rock’s biggest icons is ready to return the love. With a statue, a Netflix spotlight, and the unmistakable sound of Bon Jovi ringing through the summer air, July 15 promises to be one for the books.
Or, as Jon himself might put it: It’s now or never.
