Watt was immortalized with a life-size bronze statue in the heart of the community where his story began. The statue was unveiled in front of Pewaukee High School’s athletic complex, not just as a tribute to Watt’s achievements on the field, but as a symbol of perseverance, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence.
The ceremony drew hundreds of fans, local officials, current students, and former teammates, all eager to pay tribute to the man who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL today.
A Hometown Hero Returns
Watt, born and raised in Pewaukee, began his athletic journey alongside his brothers J.J. and Derek, carving out his own path through high school football before starring at the University of Wisconsin and ultimately being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The statue, sculpted by acclaimed sports artist Brian Hanlon, depicts Watt in full stride, helmet under one arm and his eyes focused forward—a nod to his aggressive, game-changing style of play. The base of the statue is inscribed with a quote from Watt that reads:

Standing over seven feet tall, the statue is positioned at the entrance to Pewaukee High School’s stadium, where Watt played and trained during his teenage years. For current students and aspiring athletes, it serves as a daily reminder of what is possible with dedication and drive.
“We wanted this statue to inspire future generations,” said Pewaukee High School principal Melissa Thompson. “When our students walk past it, they’ll see more than a football star—they’ll see a role model.”
