Breaking: Trail Blazers’ Anfernee Simons Sued Over Alleged Rape Incident
Portland, OR – May 16, 2025
Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Anfernee Simons is facing a civil lawsuit after being accused of rape by a woman who claims the incident occurred earlier this year. According to court documents filed on Thursday, the alleged assault took place at a private residence in the Portland area during what the plaintiff describes as a social gathering in January 2025.
The woman, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, claims that Simons engaged in non-consensual sexual activity while she was under the influence of alcohol and unable to give clear consent. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for emotional distress, trauma, and violation of personal rights.
Simons, 25, has not been criminally charged in connection with the allegations. His attorney issued a brief statement denying all accusations, calling the claims “entirely false and defamatory.”
“Mr. Simons strongly denies the allegations against him and will vigorously defend himself in court,” the statement read. “We are confident that the facts will demonstrate his innocence.”
The Portland Trail Blazers organization also released a statement, acknowledging awareness of the lawsuit but refraining from further comment pending legal proceedings.
“We take these matters seriously and are in the process of gathering more information. At this time, we have no further comment,” the statement read.
Simons has been with the Trail Blazers since being drafted in 2018 and has emerged as a key player on the team. The lawsuit is expected to proceed through the civil court system over the coming months.
