David Bakhtiari issues a strong statement after the Green Bay Packers draft his replacement.
Free agent offensive tackle David Bakhtiari released a statement on X following the Green Bay Packers’ decision to choose his successor for the next season. The Packers made a difficult decision to dismiss Bakhtiari earlier this offseason.
Without Bakhtiari, the Packers’ offensive line required more flexibility. Rasheed Walker is slated to play at left tackle. However, the team apparently wants Zach Tom to go to center. The Packers took Jordan Morgan, who can play offensive tackle or guard, with the 25th pick.
The Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Morgan.
According to Robin Adams of GH, despite Packers supporters’ hopes for Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean, the Packers chose Morgan as a potential long-term alternative after losing Bakhtiari:
“While Love was mostly held upright by his offensive line in 2023 (30 sacks in 17 games), Walker struggled early in the season before improving late. During certain games, the 2022 seventh round pick was benched in favor of Yosh Nijman, who joined with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.
Obviously, the Packers desired more consistent performance at left tackle. Jordan Morgan, an offensive tackle from Arizona, was taken as the 25th choice in the 2024 NFL Draft.
David Bakhtiari has issued a statement. He is presently preparing for the 2024 season through rehabilitation. While he understands that his time with the Packers is ended, he still has feelings for the organization that chose him in 2013. Bakhtiari wishes Morgan well with the Packers:
Let’s go!!!! Good luck, Jordan Morgan. Bakhtiari wrote, “Represent your position, town, and G with pride.”
