Former NBA stars make a controversial suggestion for Phoenix Suns.
Do the Phoenix Suns have any chance against the Timberwolves?
The series between the Phoenix Suns and the Minnesota Timberwolves is possibly the most unexpected of the NBA Playoffs. The Suns swept the Timberwolves 3-0 in the regular season, but are down 2-0 in the series after being dominated both occasions.
While the Phoenix Suns aren’t completely out of the series, it’s beginning to seem hopeless. One former NBA All-Star feels the Phoenix Suns can make one change to improve their chances, but it’s unconventional.
On the most recent edition of Gils Arena, Gilbert Arenas suggested that the Phoenix Suns play Bol Bol in the series. The former Memphis Grizzlies guard believes Bol Bol can affect the outcome of the series.
“Right now, with the talent that’s on the floor, and you look at this bench, there’s only one guy who can actually change the outcome of this series – and that is Bol Bol,” Arenas remarked at the time. “His skill level is unmatched.”
This season, Bol Bol averages 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 62/42/79 from the field. While he will not cure all of Phoenix’s problems, as Arenas suggests, it may be worthwhile to give him a shot in the same way that the Dallas Mavericks did with Boban Marjanovic against the Clippers in the playoffs – more like an X-Factor.
The Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves play Game 3 on Friday at 10:30 p.m. EST.
