The Green Bay Packers and standout cornerback Jaire Alexander had an eventful 2023 season, to say the least. While Alexander played effectively when he was on the field, injuries and a shocking one-game suspension hampered him for much of the season.
Heading into 2024, the Packers’ all-pro cornerback hopes to make a significant comeback. Now he has even more reasons to do so.
In his piece “Every NFL Team’s Most Overpaid Player Following Peak 2024 Free Agency,” Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report discusses Green Bay Packers’ All-Pro Cornerback Jaire Alexander’s renewed motivation. For the Packers, he listed none other than Alexander himself.

Fellow defenders Rashan Gary and Preston Smith are also options, but both are more consistent. Alexander is one of the league’s best corners, but he has missed the majority of two of the last three seasons while making $21 million per year on a four-year contract.
Alexander will certainly play with a chip on his shoulder. In 2024
Alexander is completely aware that he is one of the NFL’s highest-paid cornerbacks. He’s also aware that the team will require his best performance, particularly in the style of scheme that new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley prefers to run.
The Green Bay Packers have signed Alexander until the 2026 season. A rough season was summed up in December 2023 when the Packers suspended Alexander for conduct harmful to the team, perhaps causing a wedge between player and organization. However, Alexander returned for the season’s final three games and produced his greatest stretch of the year.
“Those things are difficult, those are tough, but at the end of the day it allowed us all to reset,” he remarked. “Really proud of the way Jaire responded to that and I think that’s going to help us moving forward.”
In addition, General Manager Brian Gutekunst has stated unequivocally that Alexander will not be traded. He is popular with his teammates, fans, coaching staff, and even the front office. He will be a key component of this defense for years to come.
