The Packers’ President, Mark Murphy, stated that the team is ready and excited to travel to Brazil for Week One if the NFL schedules the game.
The NFL has already confirmed that the second game of the 2024 regular season will be played in Brazil on Friday, September 6. The Eagles are slated to be the home team for this game, live on Peacock. Murphy hopes to grow the Cheesehead fan base in São Paulo by hosting a visit from either the Browns or the Packers.
Murphy added, “We’re one of the top teams in terms of popularity in Brazil,” according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Murphy anticipates receiving a formal announcement from the NFL in the near days.
“Moreover, this is significant for the league,” Murphy continued. “If chosen, we’re more than willing to participate.”
The NFL has long sought to expand its overseas fan base, and Brazil is the most recent target. Murphy believes that having a presence in Brazil will assist both the NFL and the Packers.
