It appears the Green Bay Packers have done it again. The Packers may have a franchise quarterback for the third year in a row. Jordan Love led the Packers to within three points of the NFC Championship Game in his debut season as a full-time starter.
It is commonly assumed that the Packers will be a dark horse Super Bowl candidate in 2024. Jordan Love was a major reason the Packers were so successful in the second half of the 2023 season.
The 26-year-old quarterback waited three years behind Aaron Rodgers before getting his shot. By the end of the season, he had proven himself to be the right decision. Love addressed up about his current friendship with former colleague Aaron Rodgers.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love opens out on his current relationship with Aaron Rodgers.
According to Christopher Kuhagen from The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
If Love is doing an interview, he will most likely be asked about his relationship with Rodgers.
This was no different. And his response was the same.
“We have a great relationship,” Love stated.
Love waited behind Rodgers for three seasons after the Packers took him with the 26th overall choice in the 2020 NFL Draft. Last offseason, the Packers were confidence in Love and dealt Rodgers to the New York Jets, marking the end of one era and the beginning of another.
While Rodgers and the Packers management staff had acknowledged issues near the end of the four-time MVP’s career, there is no enmity between the quarterbacks.
“Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him,” he added. “When you’re in that room together you’re there every day for multiple hours a day so you build a relationship with everyone in that room.”
Love acknowledged that there will always be comparisons between him and Rodgers, but he does not “focus on that stuff.”
Rodgers frequently emailed his successor words of support throughout the season, including before Love’s playoff debut against the Dallas Cowboys.
“Me and Aaron definitely have a good relationship,” Love repeated.
Aaron Rodgers takes over as Packers starter in 2008. That decision paid off in the 2010-11 season, when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
Jordan Love will seek to duplicate his success. Heading into year two, the Packers are already among the favorites to compete for a Super Bowl. As long as the team continues to grow together, 2024 or 2025 could be a realistic time for this team to return to the promise land.
