The Pittsburgh Steelers had a busy day.
They started the morning by signing Quez Watkins, a former Philadelphia Eagles receiver.
Then it was reported that they have signed experienced quarterback Kyle Allen as the third component of their quarterback roster.
They decided to add some experience to their defensive line.
While speaking to the media at the NFL Owners Meeting on March 25, Steelers General Manager Omar Khan said that the team had reached an agreement with veteran defensive end Dean Lowry.
Lowry’s Long Career with the Packers
Lowry was picked in the fourth round by the Green Bay Packers in 2016, and he has had a long career with them.
That run in Green Bay got off to a poor start, with Lowry recording only 8 tackles.
Just a year later, he took on a far larger position with the Packers. He started 11 games in his second season and recorded 32 total tackles, including a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
The following year, he started eight games and played in all 16, recording 44 tackles and three sacks.
From there, he established his place in Green Bay’s starting lineup.
From 2019 to 2021, he started every game for the Packers. During those three seasons, he recorded 125 tackles and 8 sacks.
He went on to play one more season with Green Bay, totaling 43 tackles.
After seven years with the Packers, his contract expired, and he chose to go with a division opponent.
He signed a two-year contract with the Vikings in 2023, although he only played nine games before his rookie season was cut short due to a pectoral injury.
They released him following his first season with the organization, making him available for the Steelers to sign to give depth to their defensive line.
