Who will be Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback?
Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback and current NFL pundit, has shared his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback position.
The Steelers have significantly improved their quarterback room with the additions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Both quarterbacks are veteran NFL starters. Wilson is a Super Bowl winner, and Fields is one of the most brilliant young quarterbacks.
Many NFL pundits expect the Steelers to hold an open battle for the starting role.
Orlovsky stated on the Mina Kimes Show, “I’m still higher on Justin Fields than others. I believe he has a unique physical talent.”
Orlovsky remarked of the struggle between Wilson and Fields, “Whichever quarterback manages to reduce their fatal flaws will win the job.” Russell Wilson has taken 100 sacks in the last two seasons, while Justin Fields has 99. No other quarterback has more than eighty.
“They also need to reduce negative plays. Fumbles, sacks, and interceptions are considered poor plays. Fields has 145 negative plays over the last two seasons, while Russell Wilson has 135.”
Orlovsky went on to say, “The quarterback that shows the Steelers that he can limit mistakes will win the job.”
