The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with former Pro Bowl guard Kevin Zeitler on a one-year contract.
According to Adam Schefter, Kevin Zeitler, a former Ravens Pro Bowl lineman, is to sign a one-year contract with the Lions. Zeitler will go to Detroit tonight to get a physical in preparation for his signing with the Lions on Tuesday.
Zeitler has started 181 of 182 career games. He was chosen an alternate to the 2024 Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, replacing Kansas City Chiefs’ Joe Thuney.
The Detroit Lions offensive line is the best in the NFL.
The signing of Zeitler elevates the Lions to the ranks of the top offensive line in football. They finished the 2023 season as the second-best team in the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles finished first. Jason Kelce, one of the finest centers in football, retired, leaving the Eagles without him.
The Lions add as the Eagles remove. Simple math tells us the Lions will pass them before 2024.
Frank Ragnow received an 88.1 grade from PFF this season, making him the highest-graded center in the NFL. Penei Sewell was one of the top tacklers in football, earning a 90.7 total rating. Taylor Decker received great marks as their starting left tackle.
The Lions needed to replace three-year veteran Jonah Jackson, who joined the Los Angeles Rams this summer. Jackson’s departure proves to be a net positive. Zeitler had around ten points better PFF overall grades in 2023.
