Over the previous few years, the Green Bay Packers have been the center of huge trades. Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were traded in consecutive off-seasons. These transfers marked the beginning of a new era in Green Bay, culminating in the 2023 season, which will be led by Jordan Love and a plethora of young weapons around him.
Having saying that, Packers fans continue to keep an eye on previous franchise players. That was evident when Adams recently discussed the impending 2024 season.
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has sent fans into a frenzy.
According to the TMPSN report:
Adams, now a standout player for the Las Vegas Raiders, posted on Instagram about former teammate Josh Jacobs’ signing with the Green Bay Packers. Adams praised his previous team’s decision in his tweet, fueling suspicion that he may want to return to Green Bay.
The Raiders suffered a loss when they lost the 2022 rushing champion to the Packers, who signed Jacobs to a lucrative four-year contract worth $48 million. Despite the length of the agreement, its structure is simply a one-year contract with a succession of one-year options.
The Packers traded Adams to the Raiders two years ago in return for first and second-round draft picks in 2022. Adams then signed a record-breaking five-year extension worth $140 million, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
When Adams first joined the Raiders, he wanted to reunite with his former Fresno State teammate and quarterback, Derek Carr. However, the Raiders terminated Carr after the 2022 season. With Las Vegas experiencing consecutive losing seasons, speculation has grown about Adams’ probable desire for a trade.
Since Adams’ departure, the Packers’ offense has felt void. Although Jordan Love emerged as a prospective franchise quarterback in 2023, it is clear that the addition of a proven Pro Bowl-caliber wide receiver would improve his performance.
At 31 years old, Adams is an excellent fit for the Packers’ offensive needs. However, it is unclear whether the team would be willing to swallow his big salary. However, the Raiders’ attitude on trading Adams remains murky.
Will the Packers ever consider trading for Davante Adams?
The Packers have made it plain that they want one sort of player for their team. Young and talented. The Packers general manager has moved on from:
Aaron Rodgers
Davante Adams
Aaron Jones
Allen Lazard
Randall Cobb
Marcedes Lewis
Robert Tonyan
Darnell Savage
To mention only a few. He is not afraid to make difficult decisions about the future of this franchise. Parting with (presumably) top draft capital for a 31-year-old wide receiver (even if he is one of the best in the game) does not suit what he is attempting to do.
Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Bo Melton, and Dontayion Wicks are among the Packers’ promising young wide receivers. They are clearly confident in the youthful group’s future prospects.
