Larry McCarren played center for the Packers from 1973 to 1984. McCarren was recognized for his durability, having appeared in 162 consecutive games, the sixth-longest streak in franchise history. He was also selected for the Pro Bowl in 1982 and 1983. He was inducted into the Packers’ Hall of Fame in 1992.
After retiring in 1984, McCarren became a radio journalist and has been announcing all Packers games for the past 27 years.
McCarren received four Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year awards from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association: in 1994, 1996, 2002, and 2007. In 2016, he was honored into Wisconsin Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame.
Larry is the most deserving recipient of this honor, and he will continue Bart and Cherry Starr’s legacy for many years.
