Over the last two seasons, the Rams went from 31st to first in terms of injuries. The 2022 Los Angeles Rams were a train wreck, causing numerous injuries in the process. According to Aaron Schatz of FTN Fantasy (previously FootballOutsiders), the Rams lead the NFL in 2022 with 71 adjusted games lost due to offensive line injuries alone. This does not include Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, or Aaron Donald’s injuries.
It is stated that injuries at that level will see some regression the following year, and wow, is that true for the Rams.
After a horribly awful injury-luck season in 2022, the Rams had the fewest adjusted games lost due to injuries in 2023. From 146.6 adjusted games lost in 2022 to 26.4 adjusted games lost in 2023, the league’s lowest total.
The Rams had only 15.5 AGL on offense and 10.9 AGL on defense.
Matthew Stafford missed one start due to injury, Kupp missed the first four games, Kyren Williams missed five games, and Ernest Jones missed one game due to injury, but Sean McVay was able to play the starters he planned to start all season.
What does this mean for the 2024 Los Angeles Rams? Perhaps, instead of a horrible season of injury luck, they’ll return to the average/mean season. They improved from 31st to first in AGL; Rams fans may be content as long as they do not finish in the top ten next season.
In contrast to the 2022 season, being somewhere in the center would be manageable.
