The Green Bay Packers are in an intriguing situation this offseason. Just one year after dealing four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers are widely regarded as the early favorites to return to the playoffs in 2024. Some observers believe the club will go even further.
This week, the Packers expressed interest in several players who may help push this offense to the next level; however, they met formally with one who could be extremely valuable to the offensive.

According to reports, the Green Bay Packers have a formal meeting with Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. By the end of the 2023 season, the Packers had proven to the NFL that they could score points against any defense. A wild card thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys, followed by a three-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers, left plenty of hope for this club going forward. However, introducing another weapon isn’t out of the question.
Adonai Mitchell was among the greatest victors at the NFL Combine, competing with his Texas teammate Worthy. Mitchell clocked a scorching 4.34 in the 40. According to Warren Sharp, Mitchell is the second 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver (or larger) to run a 4.35 or faster since 2015 (DK Metcalf). In addition to his 39.5-inch vertical jump, the star Longhorn also recorded 11 feet 4 inches in the broad jump, the largest of any athlete.
It was never in dispute, but Mitchell cemented his status as a first-round pick. Mitchell establishes differentiation on every level. Mitchell, a member of Texas’ dynamic air attack, caught 55 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Mitchell is anticipated to start on the perimeter in an NFL offense in 2024.

Ascending talent with size, speed, and ball skills has the potential to be a very excellent NFL receiver, but he is still working to bridge those gaps. Mitchell can beat press and has the speed to take the game to the next level, but he’s still learning how to bully the catch space in tight quarters and jump-ball confrontations.
He’s not always a great hands-catcher, but his ability to catch balls outside his frame is exceptional. His route running lacks focus and consistency right now, but quickness and burst out of breaks will be no problem. Mitchell is tough after the catch and has the potential to be a winner at all three levels. The difference between becoming a WR2 and a WR1 may depend on his urgency and willingness to work on the unpolished parts of his skill.
