The Green Bay Packers may be only one or two offensive moves away from reaching “championship caliber.” Two positions that will undoubtedly be addressed are running back and offensive line. It seems highly likely that either Aaron Jones or AJ Dillon will not return to Green Bay next season.
David Bakhtiari, who may return in 2024, will require a long-term replacement in the near future. However, the likelihood of signing one free agency running back is rapidly decreasing.
The Green Bay Packers are no longer interested in signing a free agent running back, according to Jason Hall of Fox Sports Radio.
The chances for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry’s future team have been published, ahead of his upcoming free agency.
DraftKings Sportsbook now has the Baltimore Ravens (+100) as the favorite to sign Henry, 30, when free agency begins later this month. The Dallas Cowboys (+450) are also listed ahead of the Titans, who are tied with the Miami Dolphins and AFC South Division opponent Houston Texans at 10/1.
The whole DraftKings odds are provided below.
Baltimore Ravens- +110.
Dallas Cowboys— +450
Miami Dolphins (10/1), Tennessee Titans (10/1), Houston Texans (10/1), Los Angeles Chargers (11/1), Philadelphia Eagles (12/1), Minnesota Vikings (15/1) and Green Bay Packers (15/1)
How will the Packers address the running back position this offseason?
The 2024 NFL Draft is the most likely place for Green Bay to address the running back situation; however, it should be noted that Green Bay was in serious talks to trade for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. While AJ Dillon is set to leave, Aaron Jones is a different matter.
If Aaron Jones and the Green Bay Packers cannot agree on a restructured contract, he may be released. Before the 2024 season, the Packers hope Jones will accept a pay decrease. Green Bay met with Jones’ agent to try to negotiate a contract adjustment. Currently, both parties are in talks to ensure Jones continues to earn fair remuneration while with the Packers.
Jones’ 118 yards and three touchdowns in the playoffs against the Cowboys capped his five consecutive 100-yard rushing outings. Jones has a bright future in Green Bay, but he is concerned about money. It may be impossible to replicate the chemistry he created in Green Bay.
In any case, finding a running back to partner with Jones for the 2024 season while also considering long-term options at the position will be critical this offseason.
