The Green Bay Packers had several goals in 2023, but one stood out as the most important in terms of the team’s future: will Jordan Love be good enough to be the next franchise quarterback? Of course, the answer was a resounding “yes,” as he outperformed both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre in his debut season as a starter.
Everything else—the winning record, the playoff place, an unexpected victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round? All perks pale in comparison to the knowledge that the quarterback position is once again in capable hands for the foreseeable future.
The wonderful part is that Love will only get better. After completing 64.2% of his throws for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in his first year of starting, the sky is the limit for what he can accomplish in the league.

And a handful of ESPN NFL analysts believe that next season will be the year Love finally establishes himself as the next great Packers quarterback, winning the MVP Award with Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers.
Two ESPN analysts believe Jordan Love will win the NFL MVP in 2024.
Matt Bowen, who predicts the Packers will win Super Bowl LIX next season, selected Love as his early NFL MVP pick. He wrote:
“Love has a dynamic and flexible collection of pass catchers, as well as a system that enhances his throwing abilities. He has the potential to post elite numbers for a championship-caliber squad.”
The phrase “dynamic and versatile group of pass-catchers” arguably best describes Green Bay’s wide receivers and tight ends. In a recent mock re-draft of the 2023 first round, three Packers players drafted after the first round were selected by teams in the first round.
In other words, Love has all of the tools he needs to succeed. When he and everyone else return even stronger in 2024, the Packers might be a very scary club.
Lindsey Thiry agrees:
In his debut season as a starter, surrounded by young talent at the skill positions, Love exploded from Week 11 onward, leading the NFL in QBR, touchdown-to-interception ratio, and combined touchdowns. Look for Love to continue to grow and thrive under coach Matt LaFleur.
LaFleur gets a lot of credit for how he helped grow Love and for seeing what he could become when the Packers traded up to grab him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, he will not receive any Coach of the Year votes as a result.
