Thomas Tuchel is being linked with a move to replace David Moyes at West Ham United.
West Ham are reportedly keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel, whose future at the Allianz Arena remains uncertain.
Hammers manager David Moyes is under enormous pressure right now after overseeing a truly awful run of results since the end of December.
The Scot is certainly on thin ice right now, and he urgently needs some wins if he is to continue in command at the London Stadium.
Should he leave, Tuchel would be a really interesting successor, wouldn’t he? I’m not sure, actually. I believe there are better possibilities for us.
Forget Thomas Tuchel, these 3 managers are perfect for West Ham
I’m just not convinced if the German is the right match for West Ham. As supporters, we don’t want to see him play slow football in the buildup.
His shortcomings as Bayern Munich’s manager should also raise red flags. So, if not Tuchel, which manager should the Hammers hire?
In my opinion, three candidates are ideal for the position.
Arne Slot
The 45-year-old has previously been connected with West Ham United. He is one of the most promising young managers in the game today.
Slot took over Feyenoord in the summer of 2021 and has led the Dutch giants to new heights in just two and a half seasons.
He led them to third place in their first season at De Kuip. The Dutchman also led his team to the Europa Conference League final in 2021/22, where they lost to Roma, but things have improved since then.
Feyenoord won the championship in Holland last season, and his team is currently second in the Eredivisie, 13 points behind runaway leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Slot plays an offensive style of free-flowing football at Feyenoord, and I believe he would be the ideal candidate to lead West Ham into an exciting new era of success.
He primarily utilizes a 4-2-3-1 system, although occasionally adapts to a 4-3-3. Slot’s managing approach has been compared to Marcelo Bielsa’s.
The Feyenoord manager prefers his full-backs to push high up the pitch, with his two center-backs splitting and a ‘ball-playing’ goalkeeper effectively serving as a third defender. If you ask me, he is the man we should go after.
Ruben Amorim
The 39-year-old Sporting Lisbon coach has previously been mentioned as a possible candidate for the West Ham post.
He uses a 3-4-3 formation that converts to a 5-2-3 when defending. He like his team to play an aggressive high press, and in order for this to work, his players must be tremendously active and physically strong.
You only had to watch Sporting’s Europa League matches against Premier League side Arsenal last season to know what great football the Portuguese coach has his team playing.
Amorim has only been a manager for five years and has been in charge of Sporting since 2020.
Since then, he has converted the Portuguese powerhouses into one of the most exciting teams to watch on the planet.
In the 2020/21 season, the 39-year-old led Sporting to the league title and league cup. He also won the same cup competition the next year, guiding Braga to the trophy in the 2019/20 season.
His team is now second in the league, level on points with league leaders Benfica but with one game in hand. He would be an excellent choice for us, in my opinion.
Gary OโNeill
The 40-year-old spent two years with West Ham little over a decade ago and is a well-known personality in East London.
Her has done wonders for Wolves since taking over at Molineux last year.
His Wolves are presently 11th in the Premier League league, only four points behind seventh position.
This season, they’ve had terrible luck with referee decisions and VAR calls.
O’Neill’s Wolves play a fast-paced, high-energy brand of entertaining football that is very exciting to watch. The Beckenham-born manager personifies everything it takes to be a West Ham United manager.
He speaks extremely well, exudes positivity and ambition, and carries himself in such a way that I believe he is a great candidate for the Hammers hot seat.
Thomas Tuchel is not the man to lead West Ham forward. Give me Slot, Amorim, or O’Neill every day of the week.
