Latest Nottingham Forest injury news: five out against West Ham, plus Gonzalo Montiel update.
The latest Nottingham Forest news and gossip as injury updates come for Gonzalo Montiel and Chris Wood, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo preparing to face West Ham in the Premier League
Nottingham Forest prepares for their Premier League match against West Ham this weekend at the City Ground. Both teams are looking for three points after losing 3-2 to Newcastle United and 6-0 to Arsenal, respectively.
Forest now sit 16th in the Premier League rankings, only two points above the relegation zone, following their defeat to Newcastle. Victory for the Reds would be greatly appreciated, as the club faces Aston Villa and Liverpool in their next two league meetings.
Nuno Espirito Santo will have to deal with several of his key players on the sidelines due to injuries. Chris Wood is still out with a hamstring injury and is not anticipated to return within the next two months.
Gonzalo Montiel is also sidelined with a hamstring problem. The World Cup champion has not been given a specific return date, but he has been ruled out for at least the game against West Ham.
“He is not going to be available,” Nuno informed reporters on Thursday when questioned about Montiel. “He is under treatment, so we’ll have to wait and see. I am not sure how long he will be out.
“The squad is essentially the same. We have a number of issues.”
Nuno also stated that Ola Aina, Willy Boly, and Ibrahim Sangare will be unavailable to face West Ham. The trio has just recently returned to the UK after representing their respective countries at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Aina started for Nigeria against Ivory Coast, but his side fell 2-1 in the final. Sangare came in as a substitute for Ivory Coast, but Boly was not included in the matchday roster.
Despite the trio’s return to Nottingham, Nuno stated that none would be available to face West Ham. As a result, Aino, Boly, and Sangare are more likely to return against Aston Villa next week.
“They will not be accessible for this game. “They will return to us and rejoin the group, but they will not be available for this game,” Nuno stated on Thursday.
