Leaked audio shows Draymond Green disrespectfully trash-talking Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Jusuf Nurkic.
Draymond Green used his words to rile up three Phoenix Suns players during the Warriors’ 113-112 victory.
Draymond Green is difficult to deal with since the former Defensive Player of the Year can be nasty to opponents while attempting to persuade them with his words and deeds. He succeeded during the Suns vs. Warriors game, when Draymond was seen trash-talking Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic, causing Devin Booker to join in.
Draymond Green: “F*ck out of here, pu**y a** n****.”
Jusuf Nurkic: “You’re the one pushing me.”
Green’s aggressive play resulted in another foul, causing Devin Booker to say something to him.
Devin Booker: “Draymond, sit your a** down.”
After repeatedly trash-talking Nurkic, Green directed some remarks against former teammate Kevin Durant. Green mocked Durant after the final possession, in which Draymond stopped KD from obtaining the ball for a miracle shot.
Draymond Green to Kevin Durant: “It’s me, n****! Pu**y.”
Golden State won 113-112 after Stephen Curry hit an unbelievable game-winning three. Draymond had 15 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists in a game where many thought he outperformed Nurkic in the center battle.
Nurkic complained about Green’s behavior after the game, claiming he did not deserve a second chance from the NBA. Draymond’s suspension for hitting Nurkic stemmed from the Suns’ last game against the Warriors this season.
“It is sad. He learned nothing, guy. It’s only a matter of time before he knocks someone else. So I take back anything I said. He don’t deserve a chance.”
When Draymond and Nurkic had their recent scuffle, and Dray was suspended indefinitely as a result, few people supported Green’s position. This time, most people are dubbing Nurkic a disgruntled loser who was offended by Draymond’s statements.
Trash-talking is part of the game, but Nurkic’s reaction to what happened suggests he may not be made for it.
Draymond Green Responded To The Suns And Nurkic
Draymond did not notice Nurkic’s comments against him after the game and later responded on social media. Green wondered why Nurkic was attempting to prevent Draymond from getting a second chance in the NBA, and whether it was because he outplayed Nurkic completely.
“What did I do to not deserve a chance?” Severely outplaying you? I should’ve watched ©draymondshow tonight. This is lunacy.”
In the post-game news conference, Draymond took a direct jab at Nurkic, asking him to remain quiet. Green stated that he will never be quiet on the court like Nurk because ‘quiet men never win’.
“I thought I did quite well tonight. He attempted to get into my head, but it did not succeed. If he wants me to go about quietly like him, I will never do it. Quiet folks do not win. So, I felt I did quite well tonight. He may keep riding the same horse he came in on, and he can ride the same horse out of here; it isn’t working.”
The Suns and Warriors would make an excellent playoff battle, but neither club is expected to meet in the early rounds. Phoenix is now sixth in the West, while the Warriors are eleventh. A play-in matchup could occur if Golden State beats Utah and New Orleans or Dallas beat Phoenix, sending the Suns to the play-in tournament.
