After trading Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers demonstrated to the NFL that they will not go into rebuild mode. Jordan Love and the youthful Packers offense stunned the NFL world by remaining one of the four teams standing in the NFC.
The defense was up and down all season, but they came out strong in the playoffs and helped the Packers advance to the divisional round. They are anticipated to keep one of their starters.
The Green Bay Packers are expected to retain one of their starters.
According to the 33rd Team, Savage is the most important free agent for the Packers to re-sign this offseason.
Darnell Savage has obviously had an up-and-down career with the Green Bay Packers, but his performance improved during the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs, he was all over the field, including a stunning pick-six against Dak Prescott.
The Packers have few unrestricted free agents to worry about, so keeping Savage around for another year or so makes some sense.
Darnell Savage is not assured to return to the Packers in 2024. In fact, after the Packers fell to the 49ers in the NFC divisional round, he sounded as if he was ready to move on.
“I mean, are there frustrations? Yeah, because I know who I am and what I can become, you know?” Savage spoke after the Packers’ divisional playoff loss to San Francisco. “Everyone’s tale is different, guy. It takes some people longer to reach to their desired destination. Personally, I believe I will never stop growing. I believe I’ll always be that way, whether it’s here or somewhere.”
The Packers picked Savage in the first round (21st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Through 72 games, he has nine interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 302 total tackles.
Also, it doesn’t look that the Packers are eager to commit heavily in a Savage extension, but that may change with an extended offseason.
