Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former Manchester United manager, claims Tottenham will never win the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou has gotten a lot of plaudits for his performance since becoming Tottenham’s manager.
Tottenham, who were top of the table in October, are now in fourth place, and Ferguson believes they will never win the title.
Tottenham last won the league in the 1960-61 season, when Bill Nicholson was in charge.
Ferguson won the league an incredible 13 times as United manager before retiring in 2013.
When asked by Sky Sports Racing’s Matt Chapman if Tottenham will ever win the Premier League, Ferguson replied: ‘No’ before chuckling.
Ferguson went on to say, “They last won it in 1961.” That is a long time. The prospect today, with Liverpool and Manchester City being so dominant in the Premier League.’
The 82-year-old was questioned at Newbury Racecourse, where his horse, Protektorat, finished third in the Betfair Denman Chase.
When Chapman stated that Tottenham were more likely to win the league than United, Ferguson responded, ‘No chance’.
Ferguson once famously stated to his team, ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’, when facing the north London club at home.
Tottenham defeated Brighton 2-1 at home on Saturday, with Brennan Johnson scoring the late equalizer.
