PETA is currently under criticism for a social media post following the death of the Georgia Bulldogs’ mascot.
On Tuesday, the University of Georgia confirmed the unfortunate passing of Que, the retiring Bulldogs mascot.
“We are devastated to announce that Uga X, also known as Que, passed away peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning.
“Born on May 27, 2013, he began his career with a collaring ceremony at the Georgia-Georgia Southern football game on November 21, 2015. Que resigned following the 2022 season, having been the most decorated of all Bulldog mascots. He has a 91-18 football record, presided over two SEC Championships, the 2021 and 2022 College Football Playoff national championships, and seven New Year’s Six bowl appearances.
“He will always be remembered as a Damn Good Dawg.”
Not shortly after Que’s death, PETA issued a social media post denouncing the University of Georgia’s use of live bulldog mascots.
“RIP Uga
“We hope his dying serves as a reminder to @UniversityOfGA to stop promoting unhealthy, breathing-impaired breeds like English Bulldogs.
PETA’s words infuriated many people who were still grieving Que’s loss.
