Patrick Mahomes: ‘Highly doubtful’ Andy Reid will retire after the Super Bowl.
Rumors suggest that the Super Bowl could be the final game in head coach Andy Reid’s storied career. That would come as a surprise to his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes was asked about the prospect during a pre-Super Bowl press conference. It was merely a possibility, which he promptly dismissed.
“I’m quite skeptical… “It would be very surprising to me,” Mahomes stated.
There is a chance that Andy Reid is holding this one tight and is still deciding on his future. However, it seems to reason that his starting quarterback would be among the first to find out if he was leaving Kansas City.
If Reid retires, it will be a significant adjustment for Patrick Mahomes, who has only been tutored by Reid during his professional career.
Andy Reid has had a fantastic career thus far. Reid’s career began in 1982 as a graduate assistant at BYU. In 1992, he came to the NFL and worked as an assistant coach for the Green Bay Packers. In 1999, he became the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, and in 2013, he returned to the position in Kansas City.
During that period, he went 258-144-1, won 14 division championships, and won two Super Bowls in four previous appearances. This season’s game versus San Francisco will be his fifth appearance. It will also be his fourth Super Bowl appearance, joining Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes stated that the Kansas City Chiefs still have a lot to play for after making it to the Super Bowl.
“They brought everyone. They were going to challenge us, and the boys stood up to make plays. This year, God threw a lot of difficulties at us, but we took the challenge and came out stronger for it. It’s been quite the year. “We’re not done yet, but this is the way to get there,” Mahomes stated.
“It’s been quite the year. We’ve been underdogs in the last several games, but we never felt like it. We have a lot of guys on this squad who know how to win, and when playoffs rolled around, we knew we’d make it happen. Now we’re in the Super Bowl, but the job isn’t done. We need to go to Vegas, face a quality team, and see if we can win the Super Bowl.”
