The Pittsburgh Steelers received sad news about one of their key defenders prior to their Wild Card round meeting against the Buffalo Bills. The Steelers had a costly win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18, but their victory kept them in the postseason picture until the Jacksonville Jaguars collapse drove them in.
However, they lost perhaps their best player for much of the playoffs.
THE STEELERS WILL MISS WATT NEXT WEEKEND.
T.J. Watt, a star pass rusher, was injured during the Steelers’ triumph on Saturday night. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Watt suffered a grade two MCL sprain. If all goes perfectly, the Steelers will face Watt in the AFC Championship round.
Watt’s presence has been a big factor in the Steelers’ late-season turnaround. Watt led the NFL in sacks this season, with 19.
The Steelers might have utilized Watt next weekend to take on star quarterback Josh Allen. Without another pass rusher like Watt, the Steelers will struggle to get far enough ahead to allow Watt to return.
