Leeds United are trying to secure promotion back to the Premier League on the first attempt.
Harry Redknapp is confident Leeds United can still win the Championship. Daniel Farke’s team has had a solid start to 2024, winning five consecutive games to move up to second place in the rankings.
However, Ipswich Town and Southampton have two games in hand on the Whites, while Leicester City leads the table after collecting an astounding 69 points from 29 games. It appears to be a four-horse contest for the top two slots.
However, former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager Redknapp believes the top can still be caught. He told Football League World: “I don’t think Leicester City are out of the running for the division title. Southampton are simply relentless at the moment. I wouldn’t rule out Southampton winning the whole thing.
“Leeds are also a threat. They’re quite strong. The support students receive at Elland Road is among the best. They will undoubtedly push. Leicester and Southampton may need to glance over their shoulders.
Following Tuesday’s FA Cup fourth round replay against Plymouth Argyle, the Whites will start their Championship campaign at home against Rotherham United on Saturday, February 10. United will be strong favourites to extend their unbeaten run at Elland Road to 16 games. The Millers are at the bottom of the standings with only 19 points. They have not won a single game on the road this season and are nine points behind safety.
