The Italian transfer season has closed, but Inter and Leicester City are scrambling to overcome the remaining issues in the Stefano Sensi trade.
It was virtually a done deal more than a week ago, but they’re still bargaining down to the wire.
Italian clubs are unable to sign any more players, but the English transfer deadline is at 23:00 GMT.
Sportitalia asked Sensi’s agent, Beppe Riso, how the deal was progressing this evening, and he said, “We still have to wait some more.”
Sky Sport Italia, Tuttomercatoweb, and others all report that the issue is with Leicester City’s Financial Fair Play restrictions.
Sensi appears to have completed his medical examinations and is now in England; the issue remains the transfer formula and obtaining a work permit.
His contract with Inter expires on June 30, so a loan with no commitment to buy could leave the Italians vulnerable.
Leicester appear to be unable to commit to the €2.5 million move and instead prefer €500,000 + €2 million in bonuses in the event of promotion to the Premier League.
