The NFC North division team, the Green Bay Packers, had a vacancy at defensive coordinator following the widely anticipated departure of Joe Barry. However, many speculate that Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines, would accompany Jim Harbaugh to Inglewood, so the Packers may need to rule him out if they are considering him as a possible Barry replacement.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz:
Michigan DC Jesse Minter is someone Jim Harbaugh has wanted to bring with him to an NFL team if he were to take a job. Keep an eye on him joining the #Chargers.
Should the Green Bay Packers Pursue Jesse Minter as Next Defensive Coordinator After Parting Ways with Joe Barry?
Minter is obviously not the be-all and end-all option for the Green Bay Packers, who must have plenty of names on their list of defensive coordinator targets. However, on paper at least, Minter looks promising, especially after he just helped the Wolverines become the stingiest team defensively in the entire nation in the recently concluded college football season. But his familiarity with Harbaugh is already a big advantage for the Los Angeles Chargers over the Packers if the two are to compete for Minterโs services.
