The Green Bay Packers will face a difficult offseason. The Packers hope to attain even more success in 2024 after reaching the divisional round of the playoffs in 2023. Late in the season, Jordan Love and the Packers offense regained its stride, propelling them to the playoffs.
However, if the front office finds the perfect component, they will continue to add to the offense. That item could have just been identified.
The Green Bay Packers may add a 6’4″ monster weapon for Jordan Love.
Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of pursuing obscure players in free agency, so we should expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. Continuing to add depth to the defensive front seven should be a goal, as Green Bay’s run defense remains a weakness.
The Packers concluded the regular season ranked 28th in total running yards allowed and 23rd in yards per carry allowed.
If the Packers become more proactive, guys like defensive lineman DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Queen would be attractive free-agent targets. However, prospective bargain free agents such as defensive tackle Dorance Armstrong and linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. seem far more realistic.
Depending on what happens with Savage and Owens, safeties such as Jeremy Chinn and Jordan Whitehead may become available to Green Bay. With Bakhtiari presumably out, Green Bay may seek tackle assistance.

Rasheed Walker was serviceable this season but far from exceptional. He was responsible for nine penalties and six sacks, according to Pro Football Focus.
Unfortunately, the 2024 tackle market is disappointing.
The Packers aren’t prime targets for a blockbuster deal, but if a top-tier talent becomes available, Gutekunst may consider it. The Packers may be particularly interested in a player with an expiring contract, such as cornerback Jonathan Jones or wide receiver Mike Williams.
The Packers might benefit from a receiver like Michael Williams.
Williams’ tenure with the Chargers appears to be ended after injuring his ACL against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.
Even though Williams is under contract until the 2024 season, the Chargers are quite likely to cut connections with him. Last offseason’s contract restructures hinted to it, and Quentin Johnston’s selection in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft almost proved it.
Williams’ cap hit for the 2024 season is $32.4 million. Not only is that a significant cap impact for someone coming off an ACL injury, but it is also one of the highest in the league. However, the Chargers may save $20 million by cutting Williams.
The Packers are extremely likely to get the 29-year-old wide receiver for a low cost this offseason. From 2018 to 2022, Williams averaged 15 games, 892 yards, and six touchdowns per year. 2017 and 2023 were much less fruitful due to his first season and ruptured ACL (2023).
The veteran receiver may desire to join a contender and restart his career. That is where Jordan Love and the Packers may come into play.
