The Calgary Stampeders have hired Sharif Finch, a veteran NFL defensive end.
After going undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, the 28-year-old American played portions of five seasons in the league, beginning as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans.
He served parts of three seasons with the team in two different spells, as well as time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints. In 28 career games, the six-foot-four, 250-pound pass rusher made 46 tackles, six for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Finch joined the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons in 2023 and has made two tackles in five games.
Prior to his professional career, the Queens native played five seasons for Temple University. In 52 collegiate games, he recorded 140 tackles, 14.5 sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, and five punt blocks, receiving second-team All-AAC recognition as a senior.
