The Green Bay Packers will be focused now on the offseason and one of the names they could potentially target signing as a free agent this offseason is Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen. Queen is busy preparing for the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Green Bay had issues on the defensive side of the football this season against the run. With Baltimore being one of the best defenses in the NFL, Queen would provide a spark to the Packers’ defense in the run game. What has helped Patrick Queen is that he has had Roquan Smith along his side this season.
Green Bay would have Quay Walker for him to work with. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report believes that the Packers should go after Patrick Queen this offseason. His reasoning behind it was:
“[GM Brian] Gutekunst hasn’t made a habit of chasing big-name players in free agency, so we can expect the Packers to be more active in the second and third waves. Continuing to build depth in the defensive front seven should be a priority, as Green Bay’s run defense remains a weakness. The Packers finished the regular season ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed and 23rd in yards per carry allowed. Were the Packers to get aggressive, players like defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Patrick Queen would become ideal free-agent targets.”
Green Bay Packers Going After Patrick Queen Would Be Perfect Because He Also Fits the Mold Of This Young Football Team
Green Bay is not known for signing free agents on the open market. However, Patrick Queen would make the most sense for them. Queen is only 24 years old and the Green Bay Packers are one of the youngest teams in the NFL. He would be a massive upgrade at the linebacker position and it would be one of the personnel changes they need on the defensive side of the football.
This season with the Baltimore Ravens, he recorded 133 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception, and six pass deflections. Queen would be a great addition to the Packers’ defense if general manager Brian Gutekunst is willing to spend the money.
