The Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers will square off this weekend in the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs. This is a highly anticipated game for both teams, with the winner advancing to the NFC Championship game. There has been a lot of discussion about this game since Green Bay trounced the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round, and some believe the 49ers are in danger of losing. On the other hand, an ESPN radio show discussed how the Packers could stop San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy, and the response shocked NFL fans and analysts.
NFL Fans Go After ESPN
One of the hosts on the show stated that the Packers should try and purposely hit Purdy late during the game, even taking penalties and potentially injuring him. This is not what the sport of football is about, and as a result, the three hosts have been receiving some major criticism from NFL fans for their inhuman comments.
These comments by the Wisconsin ESPN talk show certainly aren’t a good look for Packers fans, and many fans of the team are saying that they do not claim these guys. Wishing injury on a player is never the right thing no matter the circumstance, as it could put their career and, depending on the severity, lives in danger. We have seen this happen in different sports when players purposely try to injure the other team’s best player, and it ends up ending their career.
The 49ers and Packers will face off this Saturday at 8:30 PM ET, in what should be a great game. Players will likely not take what these guys are saying seriously, but to even put something like this into the universe is not acceptable and this show needs to be taken off air immediately. What do you think about “analysts” who say things like this before a big game?
