Earlier today, the Green Bay Packers stunned the world. They won the game 48-32 over the Dallas Cowboys. Given the Packers’ 27-0 lead in the second quarter, this game was not as close as the score showed. Having said that, the Packers’ dominant victory created NFL postseason history.
The first seven-seed to win a playoff game
The NFL announced in March 2020 that it would increase its postseason to 14 teams. That means the AFC and NFC would each receive a seventh seed in the conference playoffs. However, in previous postseasons, the 7-seed had little success.
The 7-seed was 0-6 in the three previous seasons since the postseason expansion. Now, the Green Bay Packers finally break that curse. They become the first 7-seed to ever win an NFL playoff game by upsetting the Dallas Cowboys.
The Green Bay Packers Are Making Headway
So, what is the prize for the Packers now that they have achieved this historic victory? Green Bay does get to progress, but there is a catch. They must now head on the road to take on the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers. However, given their performance against the Cowboys today, we should not rule them out of the game.
