Both Christian Watson and Jaire Alexander have been listed as questionable for the Green Bay Packers’ showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round. While there is hope one of the could return, the other remains a big question mark heading to the contest.
According to the latest reports, Watson–who is dealing with a hamstring injury–will test his health pregame to determine if he’ll be able to play. Fortunately, there is some “optimism” that he’ll get the greenlight to plau. As for Alexander, however, his status remains up in the air and is currently “50/50” at best, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“Packers WR Christian Watson, out since Dec. 3, will work out pregame to test his hamstring and determine if he can play today, source said. For the first time in a month, there is some optimism that he can go. But the workout is key,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“Star CB Jaire Alexander is viewed as 50/50.”
It will definitely be interesting to see if Christian Watson will be able to suit up. His presence would be a massive boost, especially against a Dallas Cowboys team that boasts a Top-5 defense in the NFL.
In the nine games he played this 2023 season with the Green Bay Packers, Watson tallied five receiving touchdowns, which is the third-best on the team. He has made a total of 28 catches for 422 yards.
Many are still hoping that Jaire Alexander can play in the game, too. His activity on the field is hard to replace, and having him at least gives Green Bay some defensive edge and intensity that they need to slow down the Cowboys’ offense.
For now, though, fans can only stay patient and hope for the best when it comes to their injury woes.
Green Bay Packers Make Intriguing Roster Decision Amid Jaire Alexander Injury
Jaire Alexander suffered his ankle issue during practice this week, a situation that the Green Bay Packers called a “freak injury.” While he is questionable, the team seems to have prepared in case he cannot go.
After Alexander missed their final two practices of the week as a result of his injury, the Packers elevated cornerback David Long Jr. from the practice squad, per Rapoport.
With how things are looking at, it’s safe to assume that both Christian Watson and Jaire Alexander are going to be game-time decisions this Sunday.
Regardless of what happens, the Packers will have to be ready for anything. If any of the two ends up missing out on the game, the team should have a “next man up” mentality.
