Though Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t won a major championship in fifteen years, Timo Werner, a former winger for Chelsea, has stated that he joins the team to win more titles.
Timo Werner signed a loan agreement with Tottenham Hotspur from RB Leipzig on Tuesday, January 9, 2023, making him an official member of the team.
Remember that on July 1, 2020, Werner moved to Chelsea from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €53 million?
He was able to assist Chelsea in winning one Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup. In 89 appearances in all competitions, he scored 23 goals and sent out 21 assists for Chelsea.
On August 2, 2022, the German center-forward, then 27 years old, returned to RB Leipzig for a meager €20 million. Since then, he has made 54 appearances across all competitions, tallying 18 goals and dishing out 7 assists.
Timo Werner is anticipated to play for Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the season, and should Spurs opt not to offer him a permanent contract at the end of the campaign, he will return to Leipzig in June.
Werner wants to win a championship for Tottenham, who last won a league cup in 2008, even though he knows he won’t be playing for the team for longer than five months.
“I want to be the best player I can be here,” the German international stated. I am able to attack from every position.
The Premier League is the greatest league in the world, therefore I missed it when I left, he continued. I stated when I joined my previous team that I wanted to win, and since we ended up winning the Champions League, it shouldn’t be too wrong to claim that I come here to win championships.
