Lionel Messi, a former standout player for Barcelona, has talked about how excited he is for the Riyadh Cup, which will see him go on Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Naija News, both Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian team, Al Nassr, and Messi’s Inter Miami will take part in the much awaited competition known as “The Last Dance.” It will take place at the cutting-edge Kingdom Arena from Monday, January 29 to Friday, February 8.
Between Messi and Ronaldo, who have squared off 35 times in their professional careers, this could be their last meeting.
Messi has won 16 of these games, compared to 10 victories for Ronaldo. The nine draws in their meetings have taken place mostly in the Champions League and in Spain.
Paradoxically, both players scored in a friendly match between Messi’s former team, PSG, and the Saudi All-Stars in October of last year. Messi’s team won thrillingly, 5–4.
It is important to remember that Messi’s move to the United States occurred just before this game.
However, the Argentine forward, Messi, posted on social media earlier: “I am very excited to play in the historic championship of the #RiyadhSeasonCup with my team, Inter Miami CF, as we take on top Saudi clubs.”
The match will act as Inter Miami’s preseason competition; the new MLS regular season will run from February 21 to October 19, with the playoffs taking place in October and December.
